Opportunities in Applying Freezing Desalination in O&G Operations
Abstract Clean water is a fundamental resource, probably more important than those that provide us with energy. With the ever increasing demand for potable water, new solutions that can help meet the needs of the population must be proposed. One such solution is desalination by freezing, still a mostly experimental method, but one with a variety of advantages, which has been tested in combination with regasification. The idea is to develop a process that can be implemented in real conditions. This text discusses possible improvements to this method, as well as problems that may arise from such a solution.
