A Centralized and User-Oriented Web-Based Simulator for Wellhead Facility Adequacy Verification
Abstract The Wellhead Facility Adequacy Simulator (Well-FAST), developed by PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), is a web-based engineering tool designed to streamline the verification of wellhead platform (WHP) adequacy under dynamic subsurface conditions. It addresses long-standing challenges in offshore gas production, such as evolving reservoir characteristics, misalignment between design assumptions and actual field data, and the inefficiencies of traditional manual verification methods. Well-FAST integrates commercial simulation software (HYSYS and PIPESIM) with in-house engineering logic through a modular, cloud-native architecture hosted on Google Cloud Platform. This facilitates automated evaluations across process, piping, and flow assurance disciplines, significantly reducing engineering workload, turnaround time, and human error. Tailored interfaces and recommendation logic support operations, planning, and engineering teams, with built-in approval workflows ensuring traceability and accountability. The application also incorporates AI-driven guidance and is set to evolve with advanced machine learning capabilities to analyze historical data and recommend optimal configurations. Results from internal deployment demonstrate substantial gains in cost efficiency, reusability of existing infrastructure, and risk mitigation for both greenfield and brownfield developments. Well-FAST represents a strategic, scalable, and intelligent solution for facility adequacy validation in complex offshore environments
