Digital Transformation in Energy Management: AI-Optimized Power Utilization in Oil & Gas Industry

Abstract This paper presents the design, development, and deployment of a Smart Energy Management System (SEMS) that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to optimize energy utilization in oil and gas operations. The system integrates predictive modeling and reinforcement learning techniques with real-time data from IoT-enabled smart meters and SCADA platforms to dynamically manage power loads. By analyzing historical and live operational data, the SEMS anticipates energy demand and identifies inefficiencies in consumption. The system was tested at multiple oilfield and refinery sites and achieved up to 25% energy savings, a 15–20% reduction in carbon emissions, and significantly lower operational costs. This research demonstrates how intelligent automation can improve sustainability, efficiency, and profitability in oil and gas environments.
