Precision primer designing via genome‐wide divergence scanning: resolving quarantine‐critical sibling species in the <scp> <i>Bactrocera dorsalis</i> </scp> complex (Diptera: Tephritidae)
This case study demonstrates how genome-enabled primer design can overcome the limitations of traditional locus choice for distinguishing cryptic species. The pipeline is readily adaptable to other taxonomically challenging pests, potentially offering a transformative tool for phytosanitary diagnostics and beyond. © 2025 Society of Chemical Industry.
