Building Towers and Bridges on the Foundations of Tribology
In a time of division, the tribology and engineering community should be commended for participating in open dialogue. This dialogue is critical for advancement and progress.Disagreements have arisen, as they inevitably do, but they were illuminated-and often resolved-through reasoning and communication. This could be labeled as debate. The path of progress and knowledge is illuminated and mapped through this process.Communication can be through different modes, such as conferences, symposiums, workshops, courses, research papers, and written discussions. We must keep these options open, although details of the formats may evolve.Tribology is multidisciplinary, and exists in different disciplines, but should not do so in isolation.Bridges between these are built and traveled through by the tribology community. It is important that those working in one area of the field communicate with others and have access to these bridges to do so.
