Discussion of “Influence of Material and Lubricant Parameters on the Performance of Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Under Oscillatory Motion” (Abd Al-Samieh, M. F., and Shaheen, M., 2026, ASME J. Tribol., 148(3), p. 034101)
Abstract The previtreous piezoviscous response of liquids is universally super-Arrhenius. This fact was established by measurements in viscometers more than 75 years ago. However, the classical approach to elastohydrodynamic lubrication has ignored real viscosity to perpetuate fictional accounts regarding pressure–viscosity behavior, and the subject article continues this tradition.
