Design and Implementation of a Cross-Layer Communication Architecture Based on OPC UA
In industrial production environments, the phenomenon of “information silos” is prevalent, where information between different layers and heterogeneous devices is difficult to share and interact effectively. To address this issue, this paper first conducts an in-depth analysis of the cross-layer communication requirements in industrial production scenarios. Based on this analysis, a cross-layer communication architecture based on OPC UA is proposed, which is expected to provide an extensible and interoperable data foundation for the fields of artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing. Subsequently, an edge adapter is designed and implemented to support the architecture. Furthermore, a small-scale experimental platform simulating a smart production line is established to conduct systematic validation. The experimental results demonstrate that the OPC UA cross-layer communication architecture designed in this paper can achieve efficient data communication between different layers and heterogeneous devices of the intelligent production line, effectively breaking down the “information silos” phenomenon.
