DC Energy Router Design for the Energy Internet
This paper presents the design of a novel DC Energy Router (ER) for the Energy Internet. Compared to other existing ERs, the suggested one integrates uniform ports, internal supercapacitors, and bidirectional DC-DC converters to facilitate power routing within a power packet distribution network composed of multiple ERs. The system architecture supports multi-port connections and asynchronous power flow regulation through an internal slack element. Each port is controlled by a dedicated converter operating under specific control modes. Transmission losses are compensated by the source, while the supercapacitor actively regulates the DC bus voltage. Simulation results validate several functions of the proposed system under varying load conditions, demonstrating its effectiveness in maintaining voltage stability and ensuring current regulation.
