Ultrawideband Linear-Polarized and Dual-Polarized ME Dipole and Their Array for 5G/6G Applications

An ultra-wideband magneto-electric (ME) dipole featuring exponentially gradient gap is proposed. The simulated linear-polarized (LP) element achieves 74.8% impedance bandwidth, 65.8% 1.5-dB gain-drop bandwidth, and 7.6dBi peak gain. Based on this, a 4×4 LP array prototype is designed and fabricated. The measured results show that the proposed LP array has -10dB impedance bandwidth of 82.6% and a 3-dB gain-drop bandwidth of 58.7% with the peak gain reaching 18.2dBi. Subsequently, an exponentially gradient substrate integrated block (EXP-SIB) loaded on the LP element, and orthogonal polarization probes loaded at the diagonal positions are adopted to realize the dual-polarization (DP). The proposed DP element delivers a common bandwidth of 43.2% with reflection coefficient < -10dB and the inter-port isolation>18.5dB. Then, a 4×4 DP array constructed on this basis is designed and measured. The -10dB impedance bandwidth is 55.2%, the 3-dB gain-drop bandwidth is 49.1%, and the peak gain reaches 16.4dBi. This architecture features ultra-wideband operation, structural simplicity, and seamless integration capability, demonstrating strong application potential in 5G/6G systems.
