Dual-functional ISAC Framework for 6G UAV Networks: Analytical and Numerical Insights

This paper investigates a dynamic 6G-enabled integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) network architecture, where distributed base stations (BSs) collaboratively provide communication and sensing services to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). To address the limitations of current UAV-based systems in balancing communication reliability and sensing accuracy, this study investigates and improves the performance of the novel network. Using stochastic geometry and Poisson Point Process (PPP) modeling, analytical expressions for key performance metrics are derived under Nakagami-m fading conditions. Numerical validations confirm the theoretical framework’s accuracy against benchmarks for communication quality probability and detection probability. This theoretical framework provides critical insights for optimizing UAV trajectory design and enhancing network performance in future ISAC systems.
