Localization of Mixed Far-field and Near-field Targets for MIMO Radar Based on Matrix Reconstruction
A significant number of algorithms for near-field (NF) target localization in Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) radar exist, however, many of these are not suitable for the localization of mixed targets in MIMO radar. To address this issue, this paper introduces a method for mixed far-field (FF) and NF target localization in MIMO radar, based on covariance matrix Toeplitz matrix reconstruction. In this approach, two Toeplitz matrices are constructed from the covariance matrix of the received array data to eliminate the squared terms of the parameter information. Subsequently, a fourth-order cumulant is constructed using these Toeplitz matrices, and eigenvalue decomposition is performed to obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors. The Direction-of-Departure (DOD) is estimated using the eigenvalues, while the Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) is estimated using the eigenvector matrix. Finally, the distance is estimated using the Root Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. The proposed algorithm effectively distinguishes between FF and NF targets and accurately estimates their three-dimensional parameters. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.
