A Dipole Antenna Backed by a Corner Reflector for UWB Applications

This paper presents the analysis and measurement of a wideband dipole antenna backed by a corner reflector. The antenna operates over a frequency range from 1.8 GHz to 6.5 GHz. Simulations are done using Ansys HFSS to obtain the S11 parameter across the entire frequency band, the radiation patterns and the current distribution at several frequencies. Subsequently, the E-plane and H-plane radiation patterns and S11 parameter are measured at the Notre Dame University (NDU) anechoic chamber. The results demonstrate the antenna’s performance, validating the design through alignment between simulated and measured data.
