Region-Specific Nutrition Dataset for India: A Novel Approach towards Personalized Dietary Guidance

India has widespread health challenges throughout the country and these pose significant threats to the development of the nation. There are several reasons for this, but one of the reasons identified by many studies is the lack of a service that is capable of providing region-specific nutrition support, which in turn deprives the common citizen of having a simple solution that can easily integrate into their lifestyle. This paper aims to outline the creation of a unique dataset containing nutrition information for dishes from various regions of India. The dataset described in this paper includes samples of 865 Indian dishes and 12 fields describing each dish’s nutrient properties, classifying them into a specific region and describing in what session they need to be consumed. This dataset aims to help create a platform that can empower people to achieve their health goals while enjoying the comfort of their own traditional cuisine. Please note that this is just a pilot study. The goal is to expand this research beyond India.
