Theoretical Aspects of Implementing the Program “Training by Service” into the Educational Process of Bachelors in the Specialty “Library and Information Activities”

The article analyzes the theoretical and practical aspects of the problem of introducing the “Training by Service” technology into the process of teaching bachelors in the specialty “Library and Information Activities”, which has become a mandatory educational program in the country’s universities since 2024. The relevance of the study presented by the authors is determined by the lack of developed tools for introducing this technology into the educational process of a specific area of education at the university. The purpose of the article is to consider the theoretical basis for implementing this program into the process of teaching bachelors in the specialty “Library and Information Activities”, taking into account the fact that any discipline included in the curriculum of the university should be aimed primarily at the formation and development of professional competencies. The results of monitoring students’ activities during the project work showed the high potential of the designated technology for developing professional competencies of future librarians if based, in its practical tutorial implementation, on the main requirements for the professional model of a specialist, including a librarian, and the main principles of education in a higher educational establishment taken into account when developing methodological tools. The practical importance of the article consists in a set of recommendations for implementing the “Training by Service” technology in other universities and for other areas of training.
