Optimization of Storage and Photovoltaic Configuration in IEEE 33-Bus System Utilizing Jaya Algorithm
The integration of new energy sources into existing electrical grids plays a crucial role in supplementing the grid's energy resources. Due to the complexity of current grid systems, determining the capacity and location of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage installations presents a significant challenge in the energy management of power systems. This study introduces an optimization method for configuring photovoltaic generation and energy storage in power systems, based on the JAYA algorithm. This method aims to optimize the capacity and placement of newly installed storage and PV systems within the grid to minimize total operational costs. The method's effectiveness was validated using MATLAB tools on the IEEE 33-bus system. A comparative analysis between the JAYA algorithm and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm was conducted. Simulation results indicate that the JAYA algorithm slightly surpasses PSO in terms of convergence, albeit with marginally higher cost strategies. Overall, both algorithms demonstrate considerable effectiveness. The strategies provided by these algorithms offer valuable guidance for determining the installation capacity and layout of energy storage and PV systems in power grids, underlining their practical significance in energy management.
