This study aims to describe the level of understanding of elementary school students on the concept of addition and subtraction of whole numbers. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. The subjects of the study consisted of 19 grade III elementary school students. Data were collected through a multiple-choice test consisting of 10 questions with a validity of 0.63, reliability of 0.84, and discriminating power of 0.53, indicating that the quality of the questions was in the good category. This study was conducted at SDN 1 Rahayu, Mangkubuni District, Tasikmalaya City. The data analysis technique used in this study was a descriptive statistical approach. The results of the study revealed that the understanding of the concept of addition and subtraction of whole numbers in grade III students was still relatively low. There were errors in the application of place value, difficulty in understanding the intended questions, and the inability to determine the final result of the addition or subtraction of two numbers. Therefore, this is an important finding that teachers can use as reflection and evaluation material for improvements to the learning process in the future
