Caracterización elastográfica en pacientes con patología mamaria

OBJECTIVE: To describe the elastographic characteristics of patients with breast pathology according to the Ueno Scale, at the Institute of Oncology and Hospital "Dr. Bernardo del Valle S." (INCAN), during the period from January to March 2025. METHODS: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted, reviewing a total of 74 clinical records of patients with breast pathology who were evaluated in the Ultrasound Department at INCAN. RESULTS: The most prevalent age group was 33 to 44 years, accounting for 28% of cases. The left breast showed a slight predominance of lesions (53%), with the upper outer quadrant being the most frequent location in both breasts: 49% in the right and 36% in the left. Among benign lesions, Ueno grade 3 was the most frequent, representing 44%. Of the lesions classified as Ueno 4, 90% were benign. In contrast, 53% of lesions classified as Ueno 5 were malignant. CONCLUSION: The elastographic characteristics of breast lesions made it possible to identify relevant patterns based on age, anatomical location, and behavior according to the Ueno Scale. Most patients were in the 33 to 44 age group, and nodules were most frequently located in the upper outer quadrant, regardless of side. Ueno 3 classification was mainly associated with benign lesions, while Ueno 4 and 5 revealed contrasting findings: Ueno 4 showed high benignity, and Ueno 5 presented an almost equal distribution between benign and malignant lesions.
