Hallazgos tomográficos de las patologías pulmonares
OBJETIVE: To describe the tomographic findings of pulmonary pathologies in patients over 12 years of age at the Zacapa Regional Hospital from January 2020 to December 2024. METHODS: The study was retrospective descriptive, 306 patients who were referred to the tomography service who were diagnosed with pulmonary pathology were selected, the data was collected through the data collection form, for subsequent tabulation and analysis in the Excel program. RESULTS: The sex with the highest number of patients was male (55.88%) and female (44.11%) of which the stage of life with the highest number of pulmonary pathologies was the elderly (35.3%). The most frequent pathologies were pneumonia (44.44%) of which the most frequent tomographic findings were ground glass pattern (89.7%), and consolidations (52.9%). In COPD (14.3%), the most frequent tomographic finding was emphysematous pattern (81.8%). And in tuberculosis (11.1%) of which the most frequent findings were pulmonary nodules (76.5%), consolidations (73.5%), and adenopathy (70.6%). CONCLUSION: In pulmonary pathologies, chest computed tomography is of utmost importance for their diagnosis, so extensive experience and skill are needed for image interpretation and thus avoid irregularities in the diagnosis for timely treatment that is adequate and complete.
