Performance of Ternary Blended Concrete Incorporating Micro-silica and Nano Zeolite

This study investigates the performance of ternary blended concrete incorporating microsilica and nanozeolite as supplementary cementitious materials. The inclusion of micro-silica, known for its high pozzolanic reactivity and ultrafine particle size, helped refine the pore structure and enhanced the bond between cement paste and aggregates. Nano-zeolite, due to its high surface area and nanostructure, further improved hydration kinetics and contributed to better densification of the matrix. Micro-silica was used at a constant dosage of 10%, while nano-zeolite replaced cement at varying levels of 5%, 10%, and 15% by weight. A total of 36 specimens were cast, including cubes (150 × 150 × 150 mm), cylinders (150 × 300 mm), and prisms (150 × 250 × 500 mm). Fifteen specimens served as control samples made with conventional concrete, while the remaining 21 were prepared using microsilica and nanozeolite. Mechanical and durability tests were conducted on all concrete mixes. The results demonstrated significant improvements in compressive strength, flexural strength, and modulus of elasticity. In terms of durability, notable reductions were observed in sorptivity and chloride ion permeability.
