Sleep-related breathing disorders are a group of diseases characterized by recurrent abnormal breathing events during sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common type, and usually causes chronic intermittent hypoxemia and sleep fragments. It is related to multi-system diseases, especially to other respiratory diseases. Many advancements in diagnosis, assessment and treatment have been reported in recent years. Enhancing the understanding of sleep-related breathing disorders is a requirement for the construction of respiratory disciplines and national sleep medicine.
