A EDUCAÇÃO DO PACIENTE COM BEXIGA NEUROGÊNICA: O PAPEL DO ENFERMEIRO NA PREVENÇÃO DE COMPLICAÇÕES
This study analyzes the role of nurses in counseling patients with neurogenic bladder, focusing on strategies to promote self-care and prevent complications related to the condition. This is a qualitative, exploratory bibliographic study based on the analysis of national and international scientific articles published between 2000 and 2025, accessed through the CAPES, SciELO, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases. Studies addressing health education, clean intermittent catheterization, stomatherapy, and urinary incontinence management were considered. The information was classified into thematic categories, such as patient education, nursing strategies, complication prevention, and the effect of education on promoting self-care. The qualitative analysis identified the main educational interventions used, highlighting the importance of ongoing education, the use of educational materials, and individualized monitoring. It was found that nurses’ work contributes significantly to treatment adherence, reducing urinary tract infections, preventing injuries, and improving patients’ quality of life. The results demonstrate that health education is an essential tool for strengthening patient autonomy, promoting safe and effective self-care practices. Thus, the study reinforces the importance of nursing in the management of neurogenic bladder, indicating that ongoing professional training and the implementation of structured educational strategies are fundamental to promoting patient health and quality of life.
