Characteristics of stress–strain behaviors of basalt fiber‐reinforced coral aggregate concrete under uniaxial compression
Abstract In this paper, high‐strength, plastic, and corrosion‐resistant basalt fiber (BF) was used to enhance the mechanical properties and improve the brittleness of coral aggregate concrete, and the effects of different concrete grades and fiber dosages on the mechanical properties of basalt fiber‐reinforced coral aggregate concrete (BFCAC) were analyzed. With the increase of BF dosage, the compressive strength, peak stress, and compressive toughness were increased first and then decreased, and the best results were obtained when the strength grade was C30 and the dosage was 0.8%. Moreover, this paper evaluated the toughness of BFCAC through two stages of pre‐peak and post‐peak stresses and found that BF could enhance the compressive toughness and load‐holding capacity. Based on the experiments, the nonlinear formulas of peak stress, peak strain, and elastic modulus were established and verified and derived expression for the damage factor based on the thermodynamic principles.
