A Three-Year Effectiveness Analysis of Co-Op Education Based on the University-Industry-Government Educational Community: Focusing on Regional Talent Retention and Corporate Competitiveness through the Perceptions of Students, Faculty, and Industry P

Purpose: This study aims to empirically analyze the policy effectiveness and sustainability of the Co-Op education program operated from 2022 to 2024. Method: Based on structured survey data collected from a total of 145 participants—students, industry practitioners, and university faculty—the study quantitatively examined differences in perceptions among the groups. Results: While all participant groups expressed generally high levels of satisfaction, a significant gap was identified between students’ strong desire for employment at their internship companies and the relatively lower hiring intention from the companies, indicating a perceptual mismatch between internship and employment outcomes. Conclusion: This study empirically demonstrates that Co-Op education can serve as a key strategy for promoting local retention of talented youth and enhancing the competitiveness of regional companies. To achieve this, it is urgent to institutionalize the integration of curriculum and practice, strengthen the linkage between internship and employment.
