Biodegradation Rate Polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) Bioplastic Using Soil Burial Method
Conventional plastics that require a very long time to unravel push the development of environmentally friendly bioplastics that are capable of being degraded by nature. Bioplastic waste can be managed with a method buried in soil and also utilized as a mixture of fertilizer compost. The purpose of the study This is analyze level of biodegradation of bioplastics with the soil burial method and analysis characteristics of bioplastic materials before and after the biodegradation process. Research This uses an experimental test method with PBAT bioplastic samples conducted by burial in soil and fertilizer compost for 28 days. Analysis-level biodegradation uses the formula for decline weight (weight loss). Analysis characteristics of chemical materials using OriginLab. The results show that the most optimal biodegradation occurs in bioplastics with a % reduction of heavy reached 21.42% during 28 days of burial in soil. Analysis results of material chemistry show that PBAT bioplastic has the same function namely CO, C=O, CH, and OH. Additionally, there is a shifts in the number of wave moments before and after the bioplastic is buried in soil or fertilizer compost.
