TÜRKİYE’NİN SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİR ULAŞIM VİZYONUNDA HAREKETLİLİK MERKEZLERİNİN ROLÜ: STRATEJİK BİR DÖNÜŞÜM ARACI

This study evaluates the impacts of mobility hubs on sustainable transportation and discusses their potential contributions to Türkiye’s urban transport system. Based on theoretical literature and international best practices from Europe and North America, mobility hubs are addressed not only as intermodal transfer points but also as strategic urban components contributing to broader sustainability objectives such as social equity, environmental responsibility, and spatial integration. Considering Türkiye’s fragmented urban structure, weak modal integration, and growing dependency on private vehicles, mobility hubs present significant opportunities to enhance transport efficiency and urban quality of life. The study explores institutional, managerial, and financial considerations in the implementation of mobility hubs and emphasizes the importance of locally adaptable models through pilot projects. It also offers recommendations regarding national policies and planning frameworks. Ultimately, mobility hubs are proposed not merely as infrastructural elements but as key instruments in shaping a forward-looking and integrated vision for sustainable mobility in Türkiye.
