ОСНОВНЫЕ РЕЗУЛЬТАТЫ ЭКСПЕРИМЕНТАЛЬНЫХ ИССЛЕДОВАНИЙ НА ОСАДКОМЕРНОМ ПОЛИГОНЕ ВАЛДАЙСКОГО ФИЛИАЛА ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОГО ГИДРОЛОГИЧЕСКОГО ИНСТИТУТА (1963-2023 ГГ.)

The article presents a brief history of experimental studies at the precipitation testing site of the Valdai Branch of the State Hydrological Institute. The precipitation testing site turned 60 in 2023. It describes a large set of experimental works on the mutual comparison of precipitation values measured by precipitation gauges of different designs, as well as on determining the accuracy of their measurements within the framework of four international programs carried out under the auspices of the World Meteorological Organization from 1963 to 2015. The article presents the results of scientific research based on the obtained experimental data, including scientific justification, development, creation and testing of two precipitation measuring systems recognized as reference in the world, assessment of the accuracy of precipitation measurements by standard precipitation gauges from different countries relative to the reference measurement system, as well as the development and implementation of a model for adjusting precipitation amounts taking into account the identified errors in their measurements. The prospects for the development of research at the precipitation testing site are outlined.
