TÜRKİYE’DE EKONOMİK BÜYÜME, ENFLASYON VE YÜKSEKÖĞRETİME KATILIMIN GENÇ İŞSİZLİK ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ

Recently, unemployment has been one of the most fundamental macroeconomic problems faced by all countries. Particularly the increases in youth unemployment figures have brought this issue back to the agenda. The integration of young people into the economic life and creating policies in order to reduce youth unemployment rate will lead to general increase in welfare and also provide more stable economic environment. This study investigates the relationship between youth unemployment, economic growth, inflation, and higher education participation by using annual data from the period of 2005-2021 in 26 NUTS II regions according to the Statistical Regional Classifications. The relationship between variables is analyzed by using dynamic panel model. The findings show that the previous period value of youth unemployment and economic growth is statistically significant and consistent with theoretical expectations in explaining youth unemployment. However, there is no statistically significant relationship between youth unemployment, and higher education participation and inflation.
