DCM Analysis of a Two-Switch Fifth-Order Buckboost Converter Under Unequal Duty Ratios Scheme

This paper explores the operation of a fifthorder switched-capacitor bridge DC-DC Converter in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), building on prior work that assumes continuous conduction mode (CCM). This converter integrates a switched-capacitor bridge to achieve a non-linear buck-boost voltage gain, is analyzed under synchronous unequal duty ratios (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$D_{\mathrm{S} 1}<D_{\mathrm{S} 2}$</tex>). The operation of the converter in both CCM and DCM are discussed, with emphasis on deriving the boundary conditions for the CCM-toDCM transition and the voltage gain under DCM operation. Simulation results to validate the theoretical analysis are also included.
