Robust Strategy for Agc and Avr in Isolated Hydropower Plants
Performance of automatic generation control (AGC) and automatic voltage regulation (AVR) of a hydropower system is susceptible to load perturbations and cyberattacks, such as false data injection (FDI), which can significantly disrupt both frequency and voltage control. However, very few works in literature consider both AGC and AVR. Hence, this paper focuses on a robust AGC and AVR strategy deploying appropriate controllers. These controllers are of simple PID (for AGC) and PI (for AVR) type, analytically designed using the moments matching method. The single-tuning parameters of the aforementioned controllers are designed using the integral of time-weighted absolute error, computed from AGC and AVR loops. This simple and robust method enhances system resilience and ensures improved stability under cyberthreat conditions compared to some existing analytical controller design methods.
