Development of rural economy: potential of agricultural credit cooperation

The article reveals the current state of agricultural credit cooperatives in Russia and assesses its potential in the development of the rural economy. The dynamics of their numbers for 2018–2024 are presented, quantitative changes are analyzed, including an analysis of the number of members, the size of assets, equity capital, and loan portfolio. The main directions of their development are proposed, including improving the institutional environment for functioning, providing state financial support (subsidies and grants), improving supervision and the tax system.
