Irak ve Şam İslam Devleti (IŞİD)’nin Türk Dış Politikasına Etkileri

Turkey has been fighting terrorism both domestically and internationally for many years. The source of this terrorism started with ethnic separatist terrorist organizations and then continued with rising religious terrorist organizations. In this context, terrorist organizations such as the Kurdistan Workers' Party/Partiya Karkerên Kurdistanê (PKK) and ISIS constitute the intensity of the struggle. Considering the proximity of the region where they are located and actively act to Turkey and its importance for Turkey, it is of vital importance to ensure and maintain security and order in the region. The conflicts in the region that started with the Arab Spring have led to many chaos and radical groups such as ISIS have found the opportunity to develop, especially in Syria, under the influence of the regime. When the restoration of peace in the region, the cleansing of the region from terrorism and especially the provision of border security are considered as priority goals for Turkey, the fight against ISIS has become an absolute necessity. The question of this study is what are the fundamental effects of the fight against ISIS on Turkish foreign policy and how decisive this situation is. In this context, both the change in time of the emerging struggle and its presence on Turkish foreign policy have been the subject of this study. While Turkey did not see ISIS terrorism as a threat at first due to the policies it followed, it has become the main actor in the fight against ISIS when it encountered the real face of terrorism over time and has opened a new page in its foreign policy with the cooperation it has made. In this context, this fight carried out at the international and local levels has affected Turkey's foreign policy in various ways.
