Deformation and strength characteristics of epoxy compositions modified with liquid pyrolysis products
The regularities of changes in the deformation and strength characteristics of a polymer epoxy composition depending on the type and concentration of modifying additives under three types of loading: tension, compression and three-point bending have been studied. Liquid pyrolysis products obtained by processing birch, sunflower or a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees were used as a modifier for ED-20 epoxy resin. It was established that pyrolysis liquid obtained from a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees could be an effective alternative to the industrial plasticizer (dibutyl phthalate) in terms of deformation and strength characteristics, providing an increase in strength up to 22% and relative deformation up to 62.5% depending on the type of loading. At the same time, its use has advantages from the standpoint of environmental safety and economic feasibility.
