Physical-mechanical properties of composite based on rubber reinforced with particles of superhydrophobic elastic polymethylsilsesquioxane aerogels

The effect of reinforcement with polymethylsilsesquioxane aerogel particles in an amount of 1.5 and 3.0% (wt.) on the physical-mechanical properties of a composite based on a rubber mixture used for paddings of rail fastenings of a railway track has been studied. It is found that such reinforcement does not virtually effect on density and hardness of the composite, but at the same time reduces its water absorption by 60-66%, increases the specific volume electrical resistance by more than 2.5 times and the coefficient of frost resistance by elastic recovery after compression by more than 1.5 times.
