Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Matematik Öz Yeterlik İnancı Kaynakları

The purpose of this study is to investigate the sources of middle school students' self-efficacy beliefs in mathematics from various variables and to determine students' perspectives on these beliefs. The research was conducted in a mixed design using both quantitative and qualitative methods. It was carried out during the second semester of the 2018-2019 academic year with 524 students studying in different middle schools in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş. The data of the research were collected using the "Mathematics Self-Efficacy Source Scale" and a semi-structured interview form. In the analysis of the quantitative data, appropriate significance tests (t-test, ANOVA, U-Test, H-Test) were used depending on whether the scores followed a normal distribution. The qualitative data were analyzed using a descriptive analysis method. According to the results obtained from the research, it was concluded that the sources of middle school students' mathematics self-efficacy significantly varied according to the grade level studied, first-semester mathematics grade, and parents' education level, but did not change based on gender and receiving support in mathematics. The qualitative findings indicated that the majority of students considered themselves unsuccessful in mathematics and were positively influenced by the behaviors of their families, teachers, and friends regarding mathematics.
