Pengaruh Ekstrak Kulit Buah Jeruk Bali (Citrus Maxima) terhadap Kematian Larva Nyamuk Aedes Aegypti

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the Dengue virus transmitted by female Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes through bites. This virus has clinical symptoms in the form of fever, muscle and/or joint pain accompanied by leukopenia, skin rash, lymphadenopathy, thrombocytopenia, and hemorrhagic diathesis. Dengue can affect anyone and is at risk of causing death, especially in children. Prevention of DHF transmitted by Aedes sp. mosquitoes can be done by using natural insecticides to control mosquito larvae, one of which is grapefruit peel. Grapefruit peel contains bioactive compounds that have the potential as larvicides, so it can be used to reduce the number of Aedes mosquito larvae. This study aims to explore the potential of grapefruit peel as a natural larvicide to control the population of mosquitoes carrying the Dengue virus. The results showed that grapefruit peel extract can have a significant effect in reducing the number of Aedes mosquito larvae, which can be an environmentally friendly alternative in efforts to prevent the spread of DHF. The use of natural ingredients such as grapefruit peel can also reduce dependence on chemical insecticides which have negative impacts on the environment and human health.
