Quality Assessment of Meta-Analysis Studies on Cognitive Training

The purpose of this study is to synthesize and evaluate the methodological quality of meta-analysis studies on cognitive training published in both Korean and English. A total of 11 domestic and 17 international meta-analyses published over the last decade were included for review. The general characteristics of the studies, intervention domains, dependent variables, and effect sizes were examined, and their methodological quality was assessed using the AMSTAR 2 (A MeaSurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews 2) guidelines. With various independent variables and dependent variables of near- and far-transfer identified in the studies, implications of cognitive training and its real-life applications are discussed. This study offers an overall foundation for more effective, evidence-based cognitive training approaches.
