the Synaesthesia Spa Space of Water and Light Interaction
This study considered how to induce a synesthetic experience through the interaction of water and light in a spa space. Based on the theory of synesthesia and Kandinsky's philosophy of sensory integration, four design principles (induction of sensory integration, sensory rhythm and repetition, emotional association and symbolic stimulation, interpretability and margin) were derived. Based on this, four overseas cases were analyzed, and the effects of harmony and contrast of sensory stimuli, and rhythm composition on synesthesia immersion were compared. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the organic production of water and light acts as a key factor in reinforcing emotional stability and psychological recovery. This study presented the applicability and practical direction of synesthesia design strategies in wellness space design.
