A Comprehensive Review on Pharmacological Activities of Ellagic Acid and its Applications
INTRODUCTION Ellagic acid (EA) is a polyphenolic compound known for its strong anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antioxidant qualities. Several fruits and plants contain EA, which has been thoroughly researched for its potential to treat complex illnesses like cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders. EA has been shown in numerous studies published in respectable journals, including Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity and Antioxidants, to play a part in lowering oxidative stress, regulating inflammatory pathways, and bolstering physiological defenses. Notwithstanding its encouraging pharmacological characteristics, EA's limited aqueous solubility, quick metabolism, and poor bioavailability have all impeded its clinical translation.
