Aptamer Based Nanoparticles Delivery for Cancer Therapy
Because of their unique three-dimensional architectures, aptamers—short single-stranded oligonucleotides—can bind to their targets with high affinity and selectivity. Aptamers are a class of biomolecules that have recently gained popularity. They can be used in a variety of applications, such as the development of new pharmaceuticals or drug delivery systems, the purification of target molecules from complicated mixtures, biosensor design, and diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The SELEX process for the synthesis of specific aptamers is described here, along with appropriate examples of target-specific aptamers that are frequently used in cancer treatment. Furthermore, there has been discussion of aptamer conjugates with therapeutic agents and delivery vehicles, such as oligonucleotides, nanocarriers, and tiny chemical medicines.
