A Critical Review of the Sanseito Party's Constitutional Draft : A Perspective on Xenophobia, Liberalism, and Statism
This paper critically examines the ’New Japanese Constitution (Draft)’ released by Sanseitō, a political party that gained traction in the 2025 House of Councillors election. Analyzing the draft from the perspectives of xenophobia/anti-discrimination, liberalism, and statism, it concludes that the document exhibits clear fascist tendencies. The paper argues that the proposed constitution, by concentrating power and undermining human rights and democratic principles, poses a significant risk of transforming Japanese society into a totalitarian state.
