Abstract

This article discusses symmetrical star polyhedra and the construction of teaching materials using digital fabrication. This is a study that has been explored in the extension project called 'Perspective of polyhedra in the view of Mrio Duarte', in which we are transferring knowledge about such polyhedra, through two-dimensional and three-dimensional representation, using 2D and 3D modeling to produce physical and digital models. In the development of this work, we bring concepts, applications and representations about polyhedra and digital fabrication, applied to prototypes. It is understood to be a participatory research, in which the systematic development of activities is experienced, shared and analyzed by all the actors involved. The methodology used in this project values the active participation of the students and teachers involved, has been taking place in person and relies on the continuous division of activities in each meeting for the production of these artifacts. As a result, we present the models developed for manipulation, visualization and 3D printing Graphica 2024 -XV International Conference on Graphics Engineering for Arts and Design of the polyhedra discussed here, in addition to the process of developing materials that has been carried out.
