Bridging Minds and Machines: The Convergence of Human-Computer and Brain-Computer Interfaces
This paper explores the evolving landscape of Human-Computer Interface (HCI) and Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technologies, focusing on their development, integration, and potential to reshape human interaction with digital systems. HCI has revolutionized communication through keyboards, touchscreens, and voice input, enhancing usability and accessibility. Meanwhile, BCI offers a direct communication pathway between the human brain and computers, enabling control without physical movement. By analyzing signal acquisition techniques, neural decoding, and interface design, we highlight the growing synergy between HCI and BCI, emphasizing applications in healthcare, assistive technology, and immersive virtual environments. We also discuss the ethical, technical, and usability challenges that must be addressed for widespread adoption. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current progress and future directions in this interdisciplinary field.
