Design and Control of a Z-Source-Based 7-Level Inverter for High-Performance Grid Applications
The use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) is drastically growing as the cost of fossil-fuels gets increased and the demand of electrical energy are also expanding. The DC source are cruical in RES thus integrates energy from various sources. The output of the DC source is not enough for grid based applications. To boost the power a converter is needed. A z source network is integrated especially for high performance grid applications. The purpose of using $\mathbf{z}$ source converter than using traditional methods is it has the ability to handle a wide range of inputs thus enhancing the overall system efficiency and providing smoother power conversion process. The Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) generator is used to rectify error signal and generates pulses for switching operations. The proposed z source inverter reduces the harmonics and produces smoother wavefoem which is approximate to the sine waveform. The LC filter is employed to allow desired to reduce the harmonics created from the PWM technique and also reduces the common mode noise. Finally, the filtered output is fed into the grid. This implementation is carried out using DSPIC30F4011 controller.
