Design of Type 2 Fuzzy Controller Technique for Voltage Sag mitigation using DVR

Even when there is no fault in the line, power quality (PQ) issues are common in all power networks since $90 \%$ of loads in power systems are varying load or inductive in nature. Because varying loads cannot be avoided, power quality problems such as voltage sag and swell will inevitably arise. One of the major problems with the distribution network that causes both the utility and the customer to suffer financial losses is voltage sag. It is therefore essential to mitigate these kinds of problems right away. The DVR gives a good solution for the voltage sag as well as minimizing the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in the distribution network. The suggested approach offers two control strategies: (i) Fuzzy PI Controller and (ii) Type 2 Fuzzy Logic Controller, which improve the Dynamic Voltage Restorer’s (DVR) ability to correct for voltage sag and minimize total harmonic distortion as soon as possible. The suggested approach was verified via pro-type model validation as well as mathematical and Simulink modeling. In the results section, the output of the suggested controllers with DVR is tabulated and compared to other controller strategies for DVR utilized in different research articles
