Design of a Broadband Microwave Absorber for EMI Mitigation in Wireless Communication Systems
This paper introduces a novel polarization-insensitive, wide-angle broadband(BB) absorber, ingeniously designed with a rotationally symmetric Anchor and Hat-shaped Arms Ring Resonator (AHARR). Each arm of this innovative structure features strategically placed lumped resistors, significantly enhancing its absorption performance. Notably, the proposed BB absorber reaches an absorption greater than 90% within the 6.39 to 10.7 GHz frequency range with a fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 50% under normal incidence for TE as well as TM modes. Additionally, it excels in maintaining stable absorption exceeding 90% for polarization angles from 0° to 90° in TE as well as TM modes. Under oblique incident angle, this proposed absorber sustains over 90% absorptivity in TE mode from 6.39 to 10.3 GHz and in TM mode from 6.53 to 9 GHz for angles up to 45°. Current distribution and electric field intensity are simulated to provide illustrations of the absorption mechanism at work. The design of this BB absorber not only ensures outstanding performance across a broad frequency range but also guarantees polarization insensitivity and impressive stability at wide angles. The advantage of the designed BB absorber in respect of bandwidth, polarization insensitivity, and stability under oblique incidence is assessed through comparison with recent literature.
