RASTREAMENTO DOS CÂNCERES DE MAMA E COLO DE ÚTERO EM MULHERES IDOSAS: ESTUDO DE SÉRIES TEMPORAIS
The study aims to analyze the temporal evolution of breast and cervical cancer screening coverage in elderly women in Brazil. This is an ecological time-series study, between 2014 and 2022, in Brazilian women aged ≥ 60 years. Adherence to screening was assessed by accessing the requests available in the Cancer Information System. The temporal evolution analyses were performed by dividing the number of requests among women aged over 60 years by the female population in the same age group, multiplying the result by one thousand for each year of the series. The Prais-Winsten linear regression model was applied to analyze the temporal trend, with calculation of the annual percentage variation. A total of 6,503,941 requests for mammography and 6,002,916 for cytopathological examination were identified. The year 2020 had the lowest coverage in the entire time series. A consistent trend of increasing coverage of exams was observed in all regions of Brazil. Regarding cytopathology, the North region showed the highest proportional growth (25.6%), while the Central-West region showed the lowest annual percentage change (8.4%). Regarding mammography, the highest annual percentage change was recorded in the North region (19.2%), while the South region showed the lowest rate (10.3%), despite maintaining the highest absolute rates. Women's longevity perspective should be supported by health promotion strategies and early detection of pathologies that directly impact their quality of life, such as cancer.
