ANÁLISE ESPACIAL E TEMPORAL DA TAXA DE MORTALIDADE POR CÂNCER COLORRETAL E A SUA RELAÇÃO COM O USO DE AGROTÓXICOS NO MATO GROSSO, AMAZÔNIA LEGAL, 2001 A 2016
Objective: To analyze the spatial and temporal distribution of colorectal cancer mortality and assess the relationship with pesticide consumption in Mato Grosso from 2001 to 2016. Methods: An ecological study using secondary data on colorectal cancer mortality rates and pesticide consumption. The rates were standardized by age using the direct method. The number of liters of pesticides used on all agricultural crops per municipality was summed up to obtain an estimate of pesticide use per municipality. The indicators were arranged in spatial distribution maps and Kernel analysis. Results: During the study period there was a reduction in the number of municipalities that did not register deaths and an increase in the rates in the 2009-2012 quadrennium, which reached 65.8 deaths/100,000 inhabitants. In terms of the spatial distribution of pesticide use, the municipalities located in the mid-north, west and southeast had the highest pesticide consumption and the highest standardized mortality rates from CRC. On the other hand, the municipalities with the lowest consumption, located in the northern regions of the state, had the lowest rates of CRC. Conclusion: This study suggests a relationship between pesticide use and increased mortality rates from CRC.
