Ammonia Addition Impacts on Wall Heat Flux and Flame in Swirl Combustor
The objective of this research is to numerically examine the effect of ammonia enrichment on combustion-induced vortex breakdown and the occurrence of flashback, as well as its impact on heat transfer within a combustor. An experimental atmospheric burner has been selected for precise investigation, with numerical simulation serving as the primary method of analysis. The eddy dissipation concept combustion model is utilized to accurately depict interactions between chemical reactions and turbulence. The studies are conducted with a special focus on maintaining a constant exit temperature. The rationale behind this restriction is to preserve the operational conditions of the cycle, which is of significant importance when integrating ammonia into existing combustion systems from a technological perspective. Subsequently, the research addresses the consequences of adding ammonia on the thickness, location of the flame, and maximum heat flux.
