Spor Merkezlerinin Erişilebilirlik ve Evrensel Tasarım Bağlamında Değerlendirilmesi

The health and sports movement is a rapidly growing global industry. In the planning of sports centers, which constitute a significant part of this industry, the concept of human-centered design should be adopted, and the theme of accessibility should be prioritized when designing new or existing sports facilities. Accessible sports centers are complex structures that must cater to a wide range of users and be designed to accommodate individuals with diverse physical needs. In this context, universal design principles serve as an essential guide for creating spaces that can be easily used by individuals with disabilities and the elderly. Moreover, design elements in sports centers should not only focus on physical arrangements but also incorporate aspects of safety, aesthetics, and functionality. In the design of sports centers, it is crucial to consider universal design principles alongside national standards such as TS 9111-2011 (Accessibility Requirements in Buildings for Persons with Disabilities and Individuals with Restricted Mobility), which provide guidelines and regulations for ensuring accessibility. Adhering to these standards is essential for promoting both physical and social equity. This study aims to evaluate interior design strategies for achieving accessibility in sports centers and to identify the key factors that should be considered in the planning of accessible sports facilities. By emphasizing the role of universal design principles and national standards in making sports centers more user-friendly, this research seeks to contribute to the creation of environments that can be comfortably used by individuals with different physical needs. The study begins with a literature review on the subject, followed by an assessment of accessibility requirements and design strategies for various functional areas in sports centers within the framework of accessibility and universal design principles.
