Major Insect Pests of Rice: Prevalence, Impact, and Management Strategies in Hazara Division
The research studies were conducted on insect pests in the Hazara division (Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Battagram) on rice under the proposed project. During the visit, five fields were selected in each district to record major and minor insect pests on rice. After 10 days, the visit to the crop in each district was repeated. In NARC, the preserved insects were identified. In the present study, we recorded pests on rice that were Scirpophaga incertulas (Yellow stem borer), Armyworm, Nephotettix virescens (Green leafhopper), Leptocorisa acuta (Rice ear head bug), Brevennia rehi (Rice mealybug), Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Rice leaf folder), Pyrilla perpusilla (Leafhopper), Nymphula depunctalis (Rice caseworm), and Reciliadorsalis (Zigzag leafhopper) from the above-mentioned districts. The seasonal average of each insect in each district varied in incidence, and the present study was conducted in 2023 in the Hazara region of Pakistan.
